In the Spotlight

Kindergarten through 5th-grade students participated in the spring concert, "The Whole World in His Hands". Fifth grader Riley Anderson took us on a trip around the world, visiting Japan, Australia, Scotland, Latin America, France, and Nigeria. Each grade treated us to two songs from their respective lands. Speakers Addison Keen, Bailey Hall, Easton Rayburn, Eleanor Dulaney, Cuyler Philpot, and Belecia Powe, all dressed in traditional costume, spoke of how songs from other countries have influenced the music of America. Musical accompanists included Mrs. Couric on the piano, Cameron Poindexter on flute, and Olivia Klingaman and Kalisie Perrell on the finger cymbals. Grady Lowe and Leighton Valls sang "Waltzing Matilda" along with the Kindergartners. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders learned their songs in Spanish, French, and Nigerian, respectively. At the program's conclusion, all grades sang "It's a Small World" and waved flags from around the globe. It was a wonderful evening!
