Tell us about your family.
My greatest sense of purpose is in being a wife and mother. Our family unit is a testimony to God's generous grace to me. Chris and I were married in 1990, just 9 months after first meeting. We have 3 adult children -- Bethany (a social worker at Florida Hospital), Jordan (a singer/songwriter in Orlando), and Sarah (a student at UCF) - and our youngest, Faith, a student here at Seven Rivers. We have a dog, Ruegar, and a cat, Remington, both rescue animals.
Who was an influential teacher for you, and why?
My Algebra & Geometry teacher at Dunnellon High School loved math, and he loved students. He saw my potential, despite my initial lack of interest, and encouraged me to rise to my full potential. His enthusiasm for math was contagious!
What do you most enjoy about your job?
Working individually with students to grasp a concept or read with fluency and enthusiasm excites me as I watch them gain confidence to do the next 'hard thing.'
What do you love about SRCS?
That what you see is what you get - a strong sense of love and support for 'family.' From administration to teacher to parent to student, we love each other, serve each other, and do our absolute best for each other.
Tell us about a memorable adventure you have experienced.
I am not a very adventurous soul. However, when I worked as the Public Information Officer for the Marion County Sheriff's Office, some of my many adventures included riding in the search and rescue helicopters, responding to crime scenes to report findings to the news media, and getting out on that skid pad to practice my mad evasion driving skills! Great adventures for a young college graduate!
