Tell us about your family.
I lived in San Antonio, Texas, for over 30 years.  Both of my daughters, Anna and Katherine, were raised in San Antonio and attended the same Christian school and church where I worked.  I left San Antonio in August of 2013 to move closer to my older daughter and her family.  Anna and her husband, Matt, have two children, William and Olivia, in Citrus County.  My younger daughter, Katherine, has now moved to this area, too.

Why did you become a teacher?
I first became interested in teaching when I was a young mom teaching in a Mother’s Day Out program and teaching children’s choir in my church in Texas.  I realized how much joy teaching brought me; it fulfilled my innermost being.  They teach me more than I could ever impart to them.  They are each uniquely gifted by their Creator.  Every day is an adventure, and the experience of seeing the world through the eyes of a child is something we should all strive for.

What is a fond teaching memory?
My favorite moments in teaching are when we have an aha moment!  It is special when an opportunity comes along to experience something firsthand that is unexpected and memorable.  There is nothing like seeing a student's eyes light up with excitement and to know they really understand something in a deeper way.

What do you love about SRCS?
I love SRCS and SRPC!  I knew this was the place God was going to plant my life as soon as I visited the church.  SRPC is very good at plugging new folks into life groups, and it was easy to develop new friendships in these groups.  I love teaching at SRCS for many reasons.  I feel that the staff is a family that supports each other at the grass roots level.  We do life together!

What are your interests outside of work?
Some of my favorite hobbies are singing, decorating, gardening, sewing, reading, and organizing.  My favorite hobby is having my grandkids over to play or going on outings with family and friends.

Anything else you'd like us to know about you?
My goals for this year are to teach with excellence, commitment, and passion.  I have so much to learn and desire to allow God to stretch me to His standards in every area of my life.
