Tell us about your family.
I am married to Hein, who is South African and grew up in Durban until he moved to the States at age 19.  We have three children -- Carson, Annalise, and Mariella.  All three children attend Seven Rivers, and we love being a part of the church and school community.

Why did you become a teacher?
I became a teacher because I love to teach.  I love to help students understand concepts, and I love to see the looks on their faces when they finally "get it."  I taught my first class when I was a high school senior.  One of the math teachers was gone for the day and asked one of the calculus students to come in and teach.  I started tutoring in college and haven't stopped.  I love watching people learn.

What do you most enjoy about your job?
My students are the part I most enjoy about my job.  I love my kids!  That is exactly what they are -- "my kids."  I cry when they cry, and I laugh when they laugh.  I cheer at their games like they are my own.  I swell with pride.  I love watching them grow from 9th graders into 12th graders.  I get to see them develop as people and watch them grow physically, academically, and spiritually.  I love my job!
