Siena College (NY)
Tell us about your family.
Wife, husband, and our children, Lindsay and Suzie, who attend SRCS. Ed and I were born and raised in New York. We moved here seven years ago to escape the cold and be closer to family.
What were you like as a child?
I actually did not like school as a child. That, along with having my own children, inspired me to become a teacher. School and learning should be fun and exciting for the teacher and the student.
Who was an influential teacher for you, and why?
Miss Spencer was my 3rd grade teacher. She was a new teacher, young and beautiful. They were going to put me back into 2nd grade, but she pulled me up instead and spent a lot of extra time with me after hours. She made up work packets just for me with stickers and happy faces all over. I graduated with all A's and a B++ in math.
What are your interests outside of work?
Biking, reading, and family time.
What do you love about SRCS?
Everyone is happy to be here and very competent at what they do. We support each other.
What do you most enjoy about your job?
I enjoy the partnership that develops between teacher and parent.
