Melissa Chambliss

Tell us about your family.
My husband is a pastor in Crystal River, and we have two daughters who attend SRCS.  We moved to Citrus County from Jacksonville in 2013, and we absolutely love being part of this community.  We stay busy with piano lessons, soccer, cheerleading, and most importantly, our commitment to the Lord and to the Citrus County community through our local church.
What are your interests outside of work?
Outside of work, I'm a musician (I sing and play the French horn), a roller coaster enthusiast, and a fan of the Florida Gators, Jacksonville Jaguars, and St. Louis Cardinals.  I love reading and going to the movies, and I have a passion for women's ministry.
What do you love about SRCS?
I love so many things about SRCS!  I love the sense of community.  I love our core values, our mission, and our vision.  I love that I can pray with my students.  I love that while I'm teaching children about famous artists and their work, I also get to tell them about our Creator and how He has gifted each of them with unique talents and abilities.  I love the people I work with, and I love my students. My family and I feel incredibly blessed to be part of the Seven Rivers Warrior family!
Who was an influential teacher for you, and why?
I have had a lot of influential teachers in my life, but there is one who stands out -- my high school band director, Don Reynolds.  I was quite shy as a child, and Mr. Reynolds played a huge role in building my confidence and helping me overcome my shyness.  He made learning fun, he believed in me, he was honest with me, and he made me work hard.  He will probably never know how much I appreciate his investment in my life.
What is a favorite quote?
