The upper school, grades 7-12, provides rigorous preparation for college. Students in grades 7-9 master
advanced, foundational skills of grammar, writing, science, social studies, bible, and mathematics, while opportunities in the arts
and technology help students explore new interests. Students in grades 10-12 use this experience as the springboard to the abstract,
critical thinking required for college and beyond. High school instructors challenge students to analyze, evaluate, and think
Christianly about the arts, classic literature, world history, economics, physics, and calculus. A growing list of honors, Advanced
Placement, and dual enrollment offerings prepares students for college and challenges them to embrace their life-long roles in God's
kingdom.

Community Service
All high school students are required to complete a minimum of 20 hours of community service each school year, including 3 hours of on-campus service. The 20-hour requirement must be fulfilled each year before second semester final exams, and any student who has not met the requirement will not be permitted to take his/her final exams. Missed final exams will be made up during the first summer school session, pending completion of the community service requirement. Graduating seniors must also fulfill this requirement in order to receive their high school diploma.
College Entrance Exams
As a college-preparatory institution, SRCS takes advantage of the EXPLORE and the PSAT to prepare students for college entrance exams. The EXPLORE provides practice for the ACT, and the PSAT provides preliminary training for the SAT. The EXPLORE is administered to freshmen, and sophomores and juniors take the PSAT. Scores on the junior year PSAT are used to qualify for National Merit Scholarships, so for the gifted student who does well, the PSAT can be a means of obtaining recognition for college scholarships. The school also offers an SAT prep course each fall. SRCS students are encouraged to take the SAT and the ACT during their junior and senior years.
