Students in the grammar school grades are introduced to technology by learning about the basics of the computer, introduction to the Internet, and Internet safety. We incorporate work with phonics and math skills into this learning experience. In 3rd and 4th grade, typing skills are introduced using various kid-friendly programs that offer a fun and exciting way to learn. By 5th grade, students continue to improve their typing skills and begin working in Microsoft Office 2010.
In middle school, technology takes on a larger role as students work on keyboarding mastery and learn all of the facets of Microsoft Office by completing various projects in PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel, as well as Windows Movie Maker. Students build their graphic program skills and delve into more detailed technology projects. Past activities have included creating and editing a digital video and creating a web page. Students also build their skills at Internet use, web searches, and online research techniques. Middle school students attend daily technology classes for one semester.
