STUDENT LIFE

Seven Rivers Christian School is more than a premier academic environment. It is also a family in Christ--a community. It is a community where students and teachers learn together, have fun together, and walk in Christ together as they foster lifelong relationships. The close-knit campus promotes relationships among students of all ages. A high school peer tutor helps a fourth-grader tackle math skills in the library after school, a seventh-grader reads a favorite story to his kindergarten class pal, and a history teacher holds an AP study session over breakfast. Teachers and students alike partner with one another as they grow in maturity and grow in Christ.

A key element at SRCS is spiritual growth. All students attend weekly chapel services to sing, worship, and learn about our God through a variety of speakers and age-appropriate messages; additionally, many upper school students attend both student-led and faculty-led small groups and Bible studies throughout the week, as well as participate in local and international missions. We encourage students to respond to God's pursuit of their hearts and to live as followers of Christ.

Growing spiritually also means growing in knowledge of God's creation, and SRCS students and faculty learn about God's creation through a variety of venues. In the elementary grades, students study the sciences and the wonders of the animal kingdom during field trips to Lowry Park Zoo, the Florida Aquarium, Birds Underwater, and Homosassa Wildlife Park. Trips to the University of Florida's Museum of Natural History, St. Augustine, Tallahassee, the Tampa Bay History Center, Publix Supermarket, and Enterprise Village teach students valuable lessons in history and economics, while yearly participation in the Tropicana Speeches teaches the beginning skills of public speaking. And students throughout the grammar school and high school experience the arts through visits to the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, Bob Carr Performing Arts Center, and The Hippodrome.

Many times, growing together means fellowshipping together--enjoying relationships and celebrating community. Whether it's camping out with the second graders, cheering at the high school pep rally, or winning a blue ribbon on Field Day, students across the grades have a variety of activities in which to participate, including both intramural and competitive sports, clubs and organizations, spirit week, homecoming, and prom, to name only a few of the exciting activities that bring people together on campus.
