Hi all,
Yesterday the majority of our faculty travelled to
Orangewood Christian School in Orlando for a seminar sponsored by Christian
Schools of Florida. We were stimulated and reminded about our calling, returned
encouraged and ready to teach your students. It was time well spent.
Here is the current 4-1-1 on our campus security project …
- Beginning on Monday (Feb. 25th) contractors
will begin installing new sidewalks in preparation for the security fence.
Please note that sections of the parking lot will be closed to allow
construction. Work will commence at the preschool and proceed around the
parking lot toward the church offices.
- Work on security cameras is scheduled to begin on Good
Friday, March 21st.
- We have selected a fence contractor and after initial
discussions with county officials, we have applied for a permit. Work will
commence upon approval from the county.
On the academic front …
- Through Advanced Placement courses and Dual Enrollment
courses, SRCS students have the opportunity to earn up to 31 college credits
while they are enrolled in high school. We currently offer 9 credits in
Dual Enrollment (and are looking to expand offerings next year). Credits
earned in Advance Placement are determined by student performance on an exam
at the end of the year.
- Seniors have received acceptance letters from various
colleges and universities. Two seniors recently were accepted to Covenant
College and the University of Florida. This is an exciting time for our
seniors.
Watch for the enrollment packets for 2008-2009, they will
be distributed at the end of the month. Current families receive the
opportunity to enroll before the general public. Please take advantage of this
opportunity as we are receiving a fairly high interest from potential students.
Make sure you pick up your auction tickets. We are
notorious last minute folks in our community but don’t wait too long. Proceeds
benefit tuition assistance.
Blessings,
Joel |
